What does «Fuerza G negativa» mean in Spanish?
- In certain maneuvers (dive, inverted flight, outward turns), the aviator can be subjected to so much radial acceleration that he/she ends up "seeing red". If, for example, the aircraft is suddenly dive-launched from the horizontal flight position, the pilot's body (if seated) is subjected to a force in the head-to-seat direction that causes him to react in the seat-to-head direction. This is the so-called negative acceleration, which is measured in terms of negative G. This force causes the pilot to react in the seat-to-head direction. This force causes the rider to be lifted out of the seat and results in an increased flow of blood to the head, causing palpitations and a feeling of fullness of the brain. The pilot often feels as if his eyes are filled with sand and objects appear red. Under such conditions, the small blood vessels in the white of the eye are in danger of rupture. The human organism tolerates negative G-force less than positive G-force. Most aeronauts begin to feel it at -2 to -3 G. Between -3 and -4.5 G, intense pressure is produced inside the head, with a sensation that the skull will burst and the eyes will pop out of their sockets. Consciousness is not lost, but mental confusion is experienced, which may persist for several hours. If under such circumstances a major vessel in the brain bursts, the airman may die of apoplexy.
