What does «personificación» mean in Spanish?
- The action and effect of personifying: the attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics or attributes to something non-human such as things or animals, or the representation of an abstract quality in human form. This is an anthropomorphic metaphor in which a thing or abstraction is represented as a person, historically called prosopopoeia. Non-human objects are portrayed in such a way that they are given the capacity to act like human beings. For example, when we say "The sky weeps," we attribute to the sky the ability to weep, which is a human quality. Thus, we can say that the sky has been personified in the given sentence.
