What does «unidad de tiempo» mean in Spanish?
- Art. Quality of the dramatic work, or any other work, which requires that the action does not take place in a time greater than 24 hours and that it is linear, without temporal jumps to the past or the future. It is one of the Aristotelian units (the others are the unit of place and the unit of action) derived historically from the passages of Aristotle's Poetics and, later, with criteria proper to neoclassical literature. The Aristotelian unities are literary rules, designed especially for dramatic works of theater, but which can be applied to other artistic works. They require a work to have a certain unitary character.
