What does «radiograma» mean in Spanish?
- A dispatch or telegram transmitted by radiotelegraphy (wireless telegraphy) or radiotelephone. Also known as a radiotelegram or radiotelegraph message, radiograms use a standardized message format, form and procedures for radiotelephone and/or radiotelegraph transmission. These procedures usually provide a means of transmitting message content without including the names of the various headings and sections of the message, in order to minimize the time required to transmit messages over limited and/or congested radio channels. Maritime radio services, military organizations and amateur radio organizations have historically used a variety of formats. Radiograms are often used to make recording communications, which provides an audit trail of the transmission and delivery of messages. Sometimes these records are kept for internal proprietary purposes by the sending organization, but sometimes they are also legally defined as public records. For example, maritime Mayday/SOS messages transmitted by radio are defined in international agreements as public records.
- An old-fashioned device that brought together a radio and a record player integrated in a cabinet with a loudspeaker; radio gramophone. The word radiogram is a combination of radio and gramophone. The corresponding term in American English was "console". Radiograms reached their peak popularity in the postwar era, supported by a rapidly growing interest in recordings.
- A photographic image produced on a radiosensitive surface by radiation other than visible light (especially X-rays or gamma rays); another name for a radiograph.
