What does «filosofía de la religión» mean in Spanish?
- Philosophy of religion is the branch of philosophy that deals with religions. It differs from philosophical theology in that philosophy of religion applies philosophy to religion, whereas theology applies philosophical methods to issues and problems within a religion. However, there is considerable overlap between the topics and methods of the two disciplines. Philosophy of religion usually investigates metaphysical questions such as the nature of religion, the existence and nature of a god or gods and the possibility of miracles, epistemological questions such as the status and nature of faith and religious experience, questions of possibility and the nature or religious language, and ethical questions concerning the relationship between morality and a god or gods. The arguments used in the philosophy of religion are also called natural theology, as opposed to revealed theology. Not all theologians accept natural theology - their rejections relate to the privileged status given to reason. Many theologians and religious believers have little time for philosophy of religion, as it is often more concerned with the "God of the philosophers" than with the God they believe is revealed in their scriptures and faith traditions.
