What does «barómetro metálico» mean in Spanish?
- The metal barometer is an instrument used to measure pressure as a non-liquid method. It was invented in 1844 by the French scientist Lucien Vidi. This barometer consists of a circular piece of a very thin-walled metal tube filled with compressed air. Variations in atmospheric pressure cause the curves of the tube to vary and these variations are transmitted to a needle as in the aneroid. This needle travels a circular scale graduated in millimeters of pressure. The metal barometer is adjusted according to the indications of a mercury barometer.
