What does «prosimio» mean in Spanish?
- It is said of certain nocturnal primate mammals, with dentition similar to that of insectivores, with the four extremities ending in a hand, and very large eyes. They live in trees, eat insects and small animals.
- (prosimios) Suborder of these animals. Prosimian primates are the most primitive of the living primates and share many morphological characteristics with other mammals such as tree shrews and bats. The greatest diversity of prosimian primates is found on the island of Madagascar, but all living prosimian species are found only in the Old World.
