What does «miel virgen» mean in Spanish?
- A purer honey that flows from the honeycombs without pressing or melting them. It is attributed with more healing and nutritional properties because the bees use a greater variety of flowers to produce it. Virgin honey contains enzymes that aid digestion, as well as various vitamins and antioxidants not present in other honey. Honey that is subjected to temperatures higher than 60 degrees loses some of these properties. Virgin honey is light amber in color and has a slightly acidic aroma. Its flavor ranges from sweet and sour to delicate sweet.
Examples of use in Spanish: "cosecha de miel virgen".
"la miel virgen es un excelente reemplazante del azúcar".
"El estudio del polen en la miel virgen (melisopalinología) permite determinar su origen floral".
