What does «fruta prohibida» mean in Spanish?
- In Abrahamic religions, the name given to the fruit that grows in the Garden of Eden and that God commands mankind not to eat. In the biblical narrative, Adam and Eve eat the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil and are exiled from Eden. "And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." - Genesis 2:16-17 The biblical story narrates that God has forbidden the consumption of the forbidden fruit, but the serpent ("Nahash" in Hebrew) tempts Eve who eats it and then makes Adam eat it. God then decides to expel Adam and Eve from Eden, and places cherubim to guard the way to the tree of life. In doing so, he deprived Adam and Eve of the fruits of the tree of life and made them mortal.
