What does «feminela» mean in Spanish?
- Art. A piece of sheepskin (tanned sheep or ram leather) that covers the wool sock and is used to clean and refresh the artillery pieces, especially after they have been fired. It consists of a long shaft, with an end to which the feminelle is attached to allow the artillery to be cleaned.
- Art. An elongated instrument with hairs that can be inserted into the barrel of a gun to clean it.
- A secondary shoot on a grape plant that comes out early or late and is usually removed to prevent a bunch of grapes from sprouting there. It is said "illuminate feminelles" when these shoots are cut to allow good ventilation and illumination for the plant.
