What does «desecamiento de la raíz» mean in Spanish?
- Decay of wood caused by certain species of fungi that digest parts of the wood that give it strength and stiffness. Formerly "dry rot" was used to describe any decay of seasoned wood in ships and buildings by a fungus that resulted in a decayed, cracked, dark-colored state. The life cycle of dry rot can be divided into four main stages. Dry rot begins as a microscopic spore that, in high enough concentrations, can resemble a fine orange powder. If the spores are subjected to sufficient moisture, they will begin to grow fine white strands known as hyphae. As the hyphae germinate, they will eventually form a large mass known as a mycelium. The final stage is a fruiting body that pumps new spores into the surrounding air. In other fields, the term has been applied to the decomposition of crop plants by fungi.
