What does «chacal» mean in Spanish?
- A butcher mammal of Asia and Africa similar to the wolf, but the size of a fox. Name applied to several members of the canid family. The common jackal of Eastern Europe, South Asia and India (Canis aureus) is 60 to 90 cm long and its thick tail is about one-third the length of the head and body combined. Its color varies greatly according to the different dispersal areas it inhabits, but it is usually bright reddish-brown with a black tail apex.
