What does «trágula» mean in Spanish?
- A type of large dart or dart that was formerly used as a weapon. It was usually fired using projection machines (primitive crossbows). The weapon penetrated the loriga and the shield, and when it hit a person, it wounded him deeply and "nailed the man to the ground"¹. It probably had the shape of a harpoon or hook, since it was necessary to break it to extract it from the victim. It arrived in Spain during the Crusades.
