What does «tomiza» mean in Spanish?
- A thin rope or rope made of esparto, pita or white palm fiber. It is made almost exclusively by hand, using the lower quality esparto grass (the best quality is used in the manufacture of paper pulp, much more lucrative). They are used to make mats, balayos, serones, seats, capachos, doormats. They are also used in construction to prepare the entomizados (to screw tomiza in a board or wood that is wanted to cover of plaster, so that this one grabs).
Examples of use in Spanish: "Tejen con tomiza los maderos".
"Estos balayos (cestas) se cosen con tomiza".
