What does «tacuaruzú» mean in Spanish?
- A variety of tacuara, also known as tacuara brava or yatevó. It is found in the jungles of southeastern Brazil, eastern and central Paraguay, northeastern Argentina and extreme northwestern Uruguay. It produces canes of 6 to 12 m in height (or more in good conditions) and 3 to 10 cm in diameter at the base, which are used in construction and handicrafts. Like all bambooses, tacuaruzú flowers only once in its life. This flowering occurs every 25 to 30 years, making it simultaneously all the tacuaruzu, as they are coeval, which die after fructification.
Examples of use in Spanish: "Uniendo las canoas con cañas tacuaruzú se fabricó un catamarán".
"En el Salto Yasy hay una colonia de vencejos de cascadas y densos tacuarales del tacuaruzú".
- (tacuaruzú bombo) A rhythm stick of the Cainguá Indians, made from a piece of tacuara or tacuaruzú, peeled, one meter long.
