What does «saco alveolar» mean in Spanish?
- A set of alveoli at each end of the respiratory bronchioles. The alveolar sacs form the alveoli, which are the last branches of the bronchioles located at the ends of the lungs. The alveolar sacs are the terminal diverticula of the bronchial tree and number in the millions. This is where the gas exchange between the inspired air and the blood takes place (hermatosis process), in other words, it is where the blood is oxygenated. Hermatosis occurs by osmosis at the level of the alveolar sac. There, O2 (oxygen) is transferred from the alveolar sac to the venous capillaries, and CO2 (carbon dioxide) passes from the arterial capillaries into the alveolar sac, so there is an exchange of O2 for CO2. They are covered in their internal wall by liquid.
