What does «refractivo» mean in Spanish?
- That causes refraction; that can refract. Refraction is the phenomenon of the change in the direction of a ray of light (or other radiation) that occurs when it passes obliquely from one medium to another of different density (another refractive index). It also produces a change in the speed of light. The refractive phenomenon occurs only if the wave is incident obliquely on the separating surface of the two media and if these have different refractive indices.
Examples of use in Spanish: "La córnea del ojo tiene una enorme capacidad refractiva".
"el prisma es un cuerpo refractivo".

- (defecto o error refractivo) It is a pathology that occurs when the image on the retina of the eye is not properly focused. This alteration produces blurred vision that is usually corrected with the use of glasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery.
Examples of use in Spanish: "me haré una prueba de visión para saber si tengo un defecto refractivo".
- (poder refractivo) The ability of a lens (spectacle lens, contact lens, cornea, crystalline lens, etc.) to achieve refraction.
