What does «peji» mean in Spanish?
- Common name for the species of armadillos Euphractus sexcinctus, covered with long gray or yellowish-brown hairs, they inhabit savannahs and grasslands with shrubs. They are mostly diurnal. They feed on vegetables and fruits, supplemented by insects such as ants or termites and, occasionally, carrion. Their bodies reach 40 cm in length, not counting the tail, and weigh up to 5 kg. They have claws that allow them to burrow and fight threats. They can swim easily.
