What does «noología» mean in Spanish?
- Science whose object is the complete systematic study of intelligence, thought, knowledge, mind and reason. In the Critique of Pure Reason, Immanuel Kant uses noology as a synonym for rationalism, distinguishing it from empiricism: "Philosophers have differed among themselves as to the origin of pure rational knowledge, and as to whether it is derived from experience, or whether it has its origin independently of experience, in reason. Aristotle may be regarded as the chief of the empiricists, Plato of the noologists. Locke, who in modern times followed Aristotle, and Leibniz, who followed Plato (though at a sufficient distance from his mystical system), have not been able to carry this dispute to any conclusion."
- Philosophy. Discipline that deals with first principles and is equivalent to, and at the same time prior to, metaphysics.
- Philosophy. Discipline of the spirit, understood as the capacity for knowledge, which is equivalent to psychology.
