What does «guasasa» mean in Spanish?
- Common name for a certain small fly that lives in swarms in damp, shady places. Scientific name Liohippelates (formerly Hippelates), this fly belongs to the family Chloropidae. They feed on body fluids secreted by mammals such as blood, mucus, saliva, among others; for this reason they are a potential vector of infectious diseases such as conjunctivitis and mastitis.
