- Wild rose bush that grows spontaneously in the field and gave rise to all cultivated varieties; also called rose hip or dog rose or dog rose. It reaches up to 2 m in height, with stems covered with small but strong thorns. Its flowers are pale pink or white, maturing in an egg-shaped fruit of intense red color called tapaculo, rose hip or also galabardera. It is a native plant of Europe, Northwest Africa, West Asia and India. However, it is naturalized and feral almost everywhere in the world.
