What does «centro óptico» mean in Spanish?
- In optics, speaking of a lens, it is the point that has the property that the luminous rays passing through it are not deflected. It is located on the axis of the lens and can be inside, outside or on any of the two surfaces of the lens. When passing through a thin lens, most rays are deflected (bent). There is usually a point in a thin lens through which rays are not deflected. The optical center of a thin lens is the point on the lens through which a ray passes without being deflected. The principal axis is the line passing through the two centers of curvature, C and C`.
- Clinic specialized in ophthalmology.
Examples of use in Spanish: "debo ir al centro óptico de mi oftalmólogo para controlar mi vista".
- In printing, a point approximately ten percent above the exact center of a printed page or design. It is the point slightly above the mathematical center of a page that the human eye perceives as the center. In page layout, the typographer fools the eye by designing around the optical center, rather than the mathematical center. The same rule applies in designing web pages for computer screens.
