What does «Beach Jumpers» mean in Spanish?
- The Beach Jumpers were special warfare units of the U.S. Navy, specializing in deception and psychological warfare. Like the fictional character The Shadow, the Beach Jumpers had a "mysterious power to cloud the minds of men," though it came from the study and development of tactics, rather than from "traveling the Orient." Beach Jumpers volunteers were recruited for "prolonged, dangerous and distant duty for a secret project." Their identities and activities were highly classified, as the slightest leak of information could ruin even the most brilliant deceptions. Many Beach Jumpers went to their graves without ever revealing, even to their wives and children, what they had done in the Navy. The U.S. Navy had active units of Beach Jumpers from 1943 to 1946 and from 1951 to 1972.
