What does «reacción de adición» mean in Spanish?
- A compound or addition reaction is a compound formed by the combination of two or more molecules, one of which is organic. It is a reaction where one or more chemical species are joined to another (substrate) that has at least one multiple bond, forming a single product, and involving in the substrate the formation of two new bonds and a decrease in bond order or multiplicity. An addition reaction is the opposite of an elimination reaction. Examples, ethylene chloride (C2 H4 Cl2) is an addition compound of ethylene (C2 H4) and chlorine (Cl2); the hydration reaction of an alkene is an addition reaction.
