What does «preces» mean in Spanish?
- Prayers and chants typical of the Hispanic mass, recited during Lent with a penitential character. They had a litanic form, which was answered with a short acclamation, usually miserere nobis.
- Pleas, entreaties.
- Petitions or pleas made during the mass to each "prez" ending in "Roguemos al Señor", where the faithful answer "Te rogamos, óyenos" or similar formulas.
- Prayers addressed to God, the Virgin or the saints.
