What does «mesocéfalo» mean in Spanish?
- It refers to a person whose skull has intermediate proportions between brachycephaly and dolichocephaly. In some bibliographies they are also called mesacephalic or orthocephalic. The mesocephalic skull has a cephalic index between 75% and 80% (76% and 81% in another source), so it is the skull of average or normal proportions. The cephalic index is given by the ratio of the maximum width of the skull to its maximum length, multiplied by 100 for numerical convenience. Less than 75% is dolichocephaly or elongated skull (dolichocephalic skull), greater than 80% is brachycephaly or short skull (brachycephalic skull).
Examples of use in Spanish: "un individuo mesocéfalo".
"el cráneo mesocéfalo es redondeado".
