What does «guacalote» mean in Spanish?
- Papilionaceous climbing plant, with fruit in a pod that has two hard yellowish or whitish seeds the size of an olive. It has thick stems and strong thorns, reaching up to 6 meters long. Its scientific name is Caesalpinia bonduc. It is native to the Caribbean and tropical America from the United States to Ecuador. It is used as a febrifuge, diuretic and vermifuge.
