What does «enartrosis» mean in Spanish?
- A type of joint of a bone that fits into a cavity where it moves. This joint is formed by a concave and a convex surface, having the shape of a ball and socket. The enarthrosis is a joint that allows great mobility in several directions (multiaxial joint): flexion, rotation, abduction, extension and adduction. In other words, it allows free movement in any direction. This characteristic also makes it predisposed to injury more easily than other joints. Examples of this type of joint are the scapula and the humerus (shoulder-humeroscapular), and between the coxal bone (or ilium) and the femur (coxofemoral).
