What does «clavadista» mean in Spanish?
- One who jumps into the water from a trampoline or some high area that can reach 10 meters or more in height. The sport of jumping (or diving) requires great precision and complex figures, which also includes jumping in pairs. Judges evaluate aspects such as the impulse, the difficulty of the trick, the entry into the water, the height of the jump, its execution and the approach (correct position of the body parts). These competitions date back to ancient Greece, where divers dived into the sea off the coasts of the Peloponnese and Aeolian islands. The modern Olympic Games included springboard diving in 1904.
Examples of use in Spanish: "es clavadista olímpico".
