What does «chumbe» mean in Spanish?
- Girdle or belt of 5 to 10 cm wide that is used to hold the anacus or traditional Indian skirt. It is multicolored, woven with wool threads with rhomboidal figures. The chumbe is used by Guambiano and Paeces women of Cauca and the Ingas of the Sibundoy Valley. They also weave chumbes to carry children on their backs (chumbarlos).
