What does «belleza ideal» mean in Spanish?
- Prototype, model of beauty, which serves as a mental model for the artist. It is an expression that was already used by the Platonic aesthetics. It is used in various arts from poetry to painting. It is opposed to real beauty. According to Arteaga, "ideal beauty is the mental model of perfection that the artist has applied to the productions of the arts; understanding by perfection everything that imitated by them is able to excite with the possible evidence the image, idea or affection that each one proposes according to its purpose and instrument". The artist (painter, sculptor, poet...) does nothing more than a selection of certain elements of nature. This is taken as a starting point, but it is surpassed and completed, each one according to the degree of his imagination.
- (belleza física ideal) Today the beauty ideal is the socially constructed notion that physical attractiveness is one of a person's most important assets, especially in women, and something that everyone should strive to achieve and maintain.
