What does «amaranto» mean in Spanish?
- A genus of about 50 species of the Amaranthaceae family, which grow as weeds on cultivated land or cover the wastelands of the tropics. Some are cultivated for their flower spikes and colorful foliage. The velvety flowers are tiny, but grow close together forming thick heads or spikes. The leaves, alternate, are oval in shape.
