What does «ale» mean in Spanish?
- English aromatic beverage, made from malt, distinguished from ale by its higher proportion of alcohol and sugar and its strong hop flavor. Its pale yellow and amber colors are achieved by kilning the infusion of barley, fermented at medium or low temperatures. The beer is obtained by the process called "top fermentation", in which the yeast rises to the surface of the broth. The use of hops in its production dates back to the 16th century, when the English followed the example of the Europeans who had been using it for centuries, to increase the preserving power of the beverage and to give it a pungent flavor.
