- Abnormal excitability of the vagus nerve, which manifests itself in alterations of the function of the organs in which this nerve branches, especially the heart, bronchi, stomach and intestines. It may cause disorders such as bradycardia, increased salivation and sweating of the extremities, hyperchlorhydria, syncope, constipation followed by attacks of diarrhea, reduced respiratory activity, weakness, miosis, etc.
