What does «tomeguín» mean in Spanish?
- A small bird, about 11 cm long, with greenish plumage and a yellow tail, endemic to Cuba; it has been introduced in the Bahamas. It belongs to the family Thraupidae of the order Passeriformes. It lives in savannahs, pine forests and coastal scrub. In Cuba it is one of the most commonly captured birds for caging and for fights between males when they are jealous.
