What does «socio minoritario» mean in Spanish?
- Economy. A partner in a corporation who holds less than 50% of the shares. Also called minority shareholder. Because of their number of shares (they are not a majority), they cannot exert pressure on the company's decisions made by the majority partner. It is possible to dismiss a minority partner of a business partnership, depending on the rights granted to the other partners by the company's partnership agreement. In the absence of a valid partnership agreement, the removal of a minority partner presents an uphill legal battle. If the minority partner does not voluntarily withdraw, dissolution of the partnership may be the only viable alternative.
