What does «responso» mean in Spanish?
- Liturgical prayer or chant in honor of the deceased. Not to be confused with the Mass for the deceased.
Examples of use in Spanish: "rezaron el responso en honor a su padre".
"Un responso es una oración dialogada en sufragio por el difunto".
"responso por todos los fieles difuntos".
- A song that the preacher uses for didactic purposes. The preacher sings a verse and the congregation then repeats it. It has Scottish Gaelic origin. This musical form was also transmitted to the so-called Negro spirituals (gospel, soul...) and other African-American music.
- Reprimand, reprimand, scolding.
