What does «precursor químico» mean in Spanish?
- A substance that is indispensable or necessary to produce another by means of a chemical reaction. Chemical compounds that constitute a first stage in a chemical process and act as a substrate in subsequent stages. For example, ethyl alcohol is the precursor of acetic acid in the formation of vinegar. The term is widely used in journalism and in the drug field to refer to substances that can be used in the production, manufacture and/or preparation of narcotic drugs.
Examples of use in Spanish: "Cuando se allanó el lugar, se secuestró efedrina, precursor químico indispensable para la elaboración de este tipo de estupefacientes".
