What does «paidología» mean in Spanish?
- A science that is part of psychology or pedagogy and that studies the child in its physical, intellectual and moral development. Oscar Chrisman defined it in 1893 as "the scientific study of the child". One of the most prominent in this branch was J. Rousseau. It studies subjects as varied as psychology, infancy, physical and mental development, nutrition, school, home and social education; feeding, experiences, abandonment, hygiene, ethics and morals, bodily and mental ailments, aptitudes and vocation, etc. of the child.
