What does «in púribus» mean in Spanish?
- Naked. It is a vulgar corruption of the Latin phrase "in puris naturalibus" which literally means "in a purely natural state", al natural. It means to be completely naked. Sometimes it is also used in the sense of being in dire need. The truth is that the word púribus in Latin does not exist. Some people corrupt the Latin locution even more and say "en púribus". In fact, to brand a Latin word is incorrect.
Examples of use in Spanish: "Los griegos se quedaban en púribus cuéribus cuando iban a los juegos, a hacer deporte, y hasta en la guerra".
