What does «fitografía» mean in Spanish?
- The study and description of plants; it is part of botany. It is also called descriptive botany. Its main branches are the taxonomy (classification systems) of plants and the enumeration of the characteristics of each group (phytography itself). It makes intensive use of glossology or terminology of the botanical language. From this glossology, the appropriate words are selected to accurately and precisely describe the plants studied.
Examples of use in Spanish: "en su laboratorio de fitografía dio cabida a las primeras tesis doctorales sobre ficología en España".
"comenzando por el estudio de la fitografía del área expresaremos que en ella influyen la orografía y el clima, resultando aquí la flora con caracteres distintos y propios de tres zonas: montaá, subalpina y alpina".
