What does «exósmosis» mean in Spanish?
- A current from inside to outside when two liquids of different concentration (different density) are separated by a semipermeable membrane (osmotic membrane). An opposing current called endosmosis is established at the same time. It is a type of osmotic current; it was Henri Dutrochet (1776-1847) who demonstrated the existence of two osmotic currents, which he called endosmosis and exosmosis. The apparatus for measuring or making apparent the phenomenon of exosmosis in the laboratory is called an exosmometer or osmometer.
