What does «estaño» mean in Spanish?
- White metal, relatively light, very malleable and unalterable in air, used for welding and to protect other metals. It oxidizes easily, changing its color to a duller gray. Corrosion resistant. Used in multiple alloys, it is also used to coat other metals to protect them from corrosion. It began to be used in the Near East and the Balkans around 3000 BC, especially as an alloy of copper to produce bronze to make weapons and tools. It then gave rise to the advent of the Bronze Age.
