What does «colopexia» mean in Spanish?
- Fixation of the colon to the abdominal wall; can be performed in animals and humans. It allows to create a stable fixation between the colon and the abdominal wall, to avoid its caudal displacement and prolapse. This procedure prevents recurrent rectal collapse in pets such as dogs and cats and, to a lesser extent, in elderly humans (rectal collapse has an incidence of 1% in those over 65 years of age).
Examples of use in Spanish: "al cachorro se le realizó una colopexia porque sufría prolapsos rectales recidivantes".
