What does «chulapo» mean in Spanish?
- Chulo, chulesco; typical of people of the popular classes of some neighborhoods of Madrid, with certain ways of dressing, speaking and certain casual manners. It also refers to the typical costume used in some parties of the most "castizos" neighborhoods of Madrid, typical of the working classes of the late nineteenth century. Men usually wear a jacket or vest with carnation in the lapel, dark and tight pants, black and white plaid cap, boots and white scarf around the neck and women with red or white carnation headscarf, white blouse with polka dot skirt or typical dress with polka dots up to the feet and Manila shawl.
