- Another common name for the sensitiva, a plant of the mimosaceae family, with a stem 60 to 70 cm high; and full of stingers; petiolate, compound leaves; small, mauve-pink flowers; and fruit in pods with several seeds. It is known as sensitive because if it is touched or shaken its leaves seem to wilt and, after a while, return to normal. Scientific name: Mimosa pudica.
