What does «calomel» mean in Spanish?
- Mercuric chloride (ClHg), used in pharmacy. Used in the past as a heroic medicine. It was once the most popular purgative, as well as the favorite remedy against biliousness, which was attributed to an excessive secretion of bile. The medical use of calomel has been abandoned because it causes important functional and metabolic disorders in the tissues with which it comes into contact.
