What does «ápex solar» mean in Spanish?
- In astronomy, the point on the celestial sphere toward which the Sun moves, dragging the planets. The solar apex, or the apex of the Sun's path, refers to the direction in which the Sun travels with respect to the local rest system. This should not be confused with the apparent motion of the Sun through the constellations of the zodiac, which is an illusion caused by the relative motion of the Earth, Sun and stars. The speed at which the Sun moves toward the apex is about 16.5 km/s. This velocity should not be confused with the velocity at which the Sun orbits the center of the galaxy (about 220 km/s) and which is already included in the motion of the local rest system.
