- Pertaining or relating to the morning, or to the time before noon, between midnight and noon. It is abbreviated "a.m." (ante meridiem) and is placed after the hours after midnight and before noon. For example, 1 a.m. is one hour after midnight (hour 1 of the day); 2 a.m. is two hours after midnight (hour 2 of the day); 3 p.m. is three hours after midnight (hour 3 of the day), etc.
