What does «abatelengua» mean in Spanish?
- Medical instrument that allows inspection of the mouth and throat, pressing the tongue. Also called tongue depressor, medical spatula or tongue depressor. The classic is the wooden tongue depressor, although there are also plastic and stainless steel ones. They are generally 15 cm long and 2 cm wide. Although its most widespread use is for the mouth, sometimes it is used to immobilize a broken finger, application of medicines, induction of vomiting, among other uses.
